Out and About with Companis

Oct 13, 2023

Being out in the community is always a lot of fun. This mix of photos includes Companis staff, board members, volunteers and guests kicking up their heels after our summer Spotlight event at the Northwest African American Museum; a Companis Worker field trip to the UW Biology Greenhouse; behind-the-scenes photo shoots; and Companis outreach activities at community festivals.

Companis Workers Marti Spicer (front) and Debbie Aylott enjoy a docent-led tour of the UW Biology Greenhouse with other Companis Workers. Companis offers a number of outings and social gatherings for its volunteers through its Worker Support Program

Companies had a photoshoot at the HQ of our nonprofit partner Women United Seattle. Seeing all the work they’re doing to support grandmothers raising their grandchildren was inspiring. Here’s Companis Executive Director Gary Davis photobombing a selfie with Aleiyah Cannady, granddaughter of Women United Seattle Executive Director Alesia Cannady, and Companis Communications Manager, Erin Hennessey.

Soft lighting and a friendly atmosphere helped make for a successful Companis photoshoot at the Everett Recovery Cafe, as well as the delightful subjects who posed for the camera for professional photographer Dan DeLong.  The two women with the radiant smiles are ERC’s Volunteer Class Coordinator, Kalei Kaneaiakala (left), and Companis Worker Nefertiti Gilbert (right) who helps the Everett Recovery Cafe with social media.

Outreach Specialist Cynthia Hunter staffs the Companis booth at Everett’s Nubian Jam 2023 – a celebration of African and African American culture.

Executive Director Gary Davis joined Companis’ nonprofit partner ChildStrive at its booth for Latino Expo 2023 in Lynwood.
